Gillespie, Bobby | Utopian Ashes | CD

Bobby Gillespie and Jehnny Beth bring two distinctive voices from different generations of alternative music into a shared songwriting project. Their collaboration uses the relationship between the singers to shape character and tension, giving the songs a dramatic dimension beyond an individual solo performance.

Utopian Ashes brings Bobby Gillespie and Jehnny Beth together in songs about a relationship coming apart. Country soul influences give the paired voices a setting in which disappointment, distance and miscommunication can develop through character and melody, creating a connected dramatic programme rather than a conventional duet compilation.
