Colorado String Quartet | Beethoven: 6 Quartets, Op. 18 | 2CD

Ludwig van Beethoven's chamber music helped reshape the string quartet, giving each instrument an active role in musical argument and development. The Colorado String Quartet bring this repertoire to life through the interplay of two violins, viola and cello.

This recording presents Beethoven's six string quartets, Op. 18, his first published collection in the form. Written around the turn of the nineteenth century, the works connect the Classical tradition of Haydn and Mozart with Beethoven's developing dramatic and expressive language.
