Cycle is a band formed in Middlesbrough in 1968 by John Whittingham, who was initially named Psycle. Whittingham, with brother-in-law Ronnie Patterson on bass and Norman Smith on drums, quickly built a significant following on the local circuit, supporting Van der Graaf Generator, Atomic Rooster and Mott The Hoople at the Redcar Jazz Club. In late 1971 they made a demo album at SRT Studios in Bedfordshire, pressing 99 copies and selling them at gigs.

Cosmic Clouds is a remastered CD album released by Rise Above Relics on 27 March 2020. It brings together six tracks originally released as a private pressing of 99 copies in 1971, six previously unreleased tracks from a second album recorded in 1973, and two tracks from a final demo recorded in 1975. John Whittingham provides lead vocals and guitar, and Norman Smith is credited on drums.
