Satie | Piano Dreams / Collection / Ro | CD
£17.00
Erik Satie was a French composer and pianist, born on 17 May 1866 in Honfleur and died on 1 July 1925 in Arcueil. A figure of the early twentieth century Parisian avant-garde, he called himself a phonometrograph, preferring this to the title of musician. From the 1940s, John Cage largely presented his work as that of an inventor of a new musical expression, and Satie was rediscovered as a precursor to minimalism, ambient music and the Theatre of the Absurd.
This is a one-disc compilation of Erik Satie's piano music, played by Pascal Rogé. It was released on the Decca label in 1997 and runs for 68 minutes and 50 seconds.
