Francesco Cavalli was an Italian composer closely associated with seventeenth-century Venetian opera. His stage works combine expressive vocal writing with the dramatic situations of early public opera.
This two-DVD release presents La virtù de' strali d'Amore with Europa Galante under Fabio Biondi. The filmed production brings the work's characters, vocal roles and instrumental accompaniment together in a complete theatrical setting.
