Fela Kuti | Upside Down | 1LP

Fela Kuti was a Nigerian bandleader, saxophonist and activist whose music helped establish Afrobeat. His extended arrangements brought together jazz improvisation, funk rhythms and West African musical traditions, giving his outspoken vocals a powerful foundation of interlocking percussion, guitars and horns. Released in 1976, Upside Down features Sandra Izsadore sharing the lead vocals on its title track, while Go Slow draws on the experience of Lagos traffic.
