Gilbert And Sullivan | Sorcerer, The | CD
£10.00
Gilbert and Sullivan's partnership joined W S Gilbert's comic writing with Arthur Sullivan's melodic invention. Their operettas use witty language, memorable tunes and sharply drawn characters to turn social conventions into theatrical comedy, while choruses and ensembles give the stories their musical momentum.
The Sorcerer presents Gilbert and Sullivan's comic operetta in a recording with the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company under Isidore Godfrey. A village celebration and a misguided love potion provide the story's basis, with solos, ensembles and choruses connecting the characters' changing relationships to Sullivan's melodic writing.
