Jefferson Starship | Jefferson Airplane At Woodstock | CD
Jefferson Starship is a US band formed in 1974 after the breakup of Jefferson Airplane. Its first album, Dragonfly, was recorded in 1974, and the membership later changed almost endlessly until David Freiberg was the only original member left. The name had been used four years earlier for a band that included David Crosby, Graham Nash and members of the Grateful Dead, backing Paul Kantner on his solo album Blows Against the Empire. Band leader Paul Kantner left the group in 1984, and a settlement that prohibited use of the name, unless all original members were in the band, forced it to change its name to Starship.
The release is titled Performing Jefferson Airplane At Woodstock and documents a performance at Del Mar Fairgrounds, Del Mar, CA, on June 12th, 2009. It is a one disc album reissue released by Floating World in February 2023. The credits include Paul Kantner and David Freiberg on guitar and vocals, Jeff Pevar on guitar and bass, Cathy Richardson on vocals, Tom Constanten on piano, Chris Smith on keyboards, Slick Aguilar on guitar and Donny Baldwin on drums.
