£8.00
Johann Nepomuk Hummel was a composer and virtuoso pianist of Austrian origin. He was born in Pressburg, present-day Bratislava in Slovakia, on 14 November 1778 and died on 17 October 1837.
This single CD album brings together two septets: Hummel's Septet in D minor, Op. 74, for piano, flute, oboe, horn, viola, cello and double bass, and Berwald's Grand Septet in B flat, for clarinet, bassoon, horn, violin, viola, cello and double bass. The Nash Ensemble performs both works, and Simon Lawman is credited as producer. The CD was released on CRD Records in 1996.
