Johnny, Cash | Songwriter | CD
Johnny Cash was an American singer-songwriter, actor, musician and author, born on 26 February 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas, and he died on 12 September 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a hugely influential country singer, and his all-black stage wardrobe earned him the nickname The Man in Black. He was inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1977, the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
Songwriter is a two-disc release from UMe, issued in 2024. It collects self-penned songs that Johnny Cash recorded as demos at LSI Studios in Nashville in 1993, between contracts. John Carter Cash rediscovered the recordings and produced the album with David Ferguson, with contributions from Marty Stuart, Dave Roe, Pete Abbott and Dan Auerbach, who plays a guitar solo. The sessions took place at the Cash Cabin in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
