Jackie McLean | Destination… Out! | VINYL

Jackie McLean was an American alto saxophonist whose distinctive tone connected hard bop with more adventurous jazz forms. His recordings combine blues-rooted phrasing with bold harmonic and rhythmic exploration.

Destination… Out! places Jackie McLean’s alto saxophone in an adventurous ensemble with Grachan Moncur III and Bobby Hutcherson. The compositions favour unusual shapes and open textures, connecting jazz’s blues-rooted language with the exploratory direction of the early 1960s.
