Peyroux, Madeleine | Careless Love | 2CD

Madeleine Peyroux is an American jazz singer and musician, born on 18 April 1974 in Athens, Georgia. Yves Beauvais, a former Atlantic Records A&R man, discovered her in a New York club, signed her to Atlantic and co-produced her 1996 debut Dreamland.

Careless Love is a two-disc CD deluxe edition reissue by Madeleine Peyroux, released by Rounder Records in 2021. First released in 2004, the album collects cover versions from Bob Dylan to James P Johnson, including Peyroux's rendition of Leonard Cohen's Dance Me to the End of Love, and its only original song is Don't Wait Too Long, co-written by Larry Klein and Jesse Harris. The release adds a previously unreleased 2005 live recording made by Basque Public Radio for the Festival de Jazz de Vitoria-Gasteiz in Spain, in which Peyroux performs material from the album. Larry Klein produced the original album, and the reissue was produced by Mason Williams and Scott Billington, with liner notes by Ashley Kahn.
