John Mayer | Sob Rock | CD

John Mayer is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist whose music combines pop writing with blues and roots influences. His recordings range from intimate acoustic songs to fuller band settings, with melodic guitar phrasing and a restrained vocal style linking those approaches.

Sob Rock, released in 2021, draws deliberately on the production and musical atmosphere of 1980s pop-rock. The album uses polished keyboards, guitar tones and rhythm arrangements to frame songs about longing and relationships, placing Mayer's songwriting within a recognisably nostalgic setting.
