Mendelssohn | Songs & Duets 5 | 2CD

Felix Mendelssohn's songs connect Romantic poetry with carefully balanced writing for voice and piano. Pianist Eugene Asti's recording series brings this repertoire together with specialist singers, treating the piano part as an active partner in the expression and movement of each song.

Volume 5 concludes Asti's Mendelssohn: Songs and Duets series for Hyperion. The two-disc programme includes less familiar and previously unrecorded material alongside different versions of songs, extending the view of Mendelssohn's vocal writing beyond the best-known recital repertoire.
