Miles Davis | Volume 1 | LP

Miles Davis was an American trumpeter, bandleader and composer, born in Alton, Illinois on 26 May 1926 and died in Santa Monica, California on 28 September 1991. His career spanned five decades and included several major developments in jazz, among them the creation of the hard bop style in the mid-1950s and, in the late 1960s, the introduction of electronic instruments and rock and funk rhythms into his music. Around 1975 he took a hiatus over health and personal problems, returning in 1980.

Volume 1 is a mono vinyl LP compilation by Miles Davis, limited to 1000 copies and released in 2023 by Culture Factory in France as a limited edition reissue. It is an unofficial release. The album gathers the three sessions Miles Davis recorded for Blue Note in 1952, 1953 and 1954, and Blue Note first compiled these recordings into two 12-inch LPs in 1955 as part of its 1500 series. The styles are bop and hard bop.
