Muddy Waters is an American blues guitarist, singer and composer. He was born in Rolling Fork, Mississippi and died in Westmont, Illinois in 1983. He is considered by many to be a founder of the modern Chicago blues style and became the most prominent interpreter of the electric blues. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987 as a performer.

The Real Folk Blues is a single LP by Muddy Waters, reissued in remastered mono on Chess in 2026. It was the first release in Chess's The Real Folk Blues series, which was designed to appeal to the folk music craze of the 1960s. The album gathers some of Waters' earliest recordings, including his first recording for Aristocrat, the predecessor to Chess. Marshall Chess produced the album, and Willie Dixon wrote the liner notes.
