Old Man's Child is a Norwegian melodic black metal band from Jessheim and Oslo, founded in 1993. Its roots lie in a cover band called Requiem, formed in 1989 by Galder and Tjodalv to play Metallica and Slayer songs, which became a death metal band before changing to black metal and taking the name Old Man's Child later in 1993. Excluding the band's early years, it has been very much a solo project of Galder, who used session musicians on albums and tours. Galder revived the band in 2019, and in 2025 it made its first live performances in 25 years.
In The Shades Of Life is a cassette EP reissue released by Soulseller Records in the Netherlands on March 6, 2026, with a listed year of 2023. Grusom is credited with music, vocals, guitar and synth, with Brynjard Tristan on bass, Tjodalv on drums and vocals and Jardar on guitar. Bård Norheim and Old Man's Child are credited as producers, and the recording was made at Stovner RF in 1994.
