Brad Mehldau | Brad Mehldau: After Bach | CD

Brad Mehldau is an American pianist and composer whose work connects jazz improvisation with a broad interest in song and classical music. His recordings develop through detailed voicings, melodic transformation and rhythmic independence, giving both composition and spontaneous musical development a central role.

After Bach connects Brad Mehldau’s solo-piano performances of music by Johann Sebastian Bach with his own responses to that repertoire. The programme moves between composed pieces and new musical development, giving keyboard phrasing, harmony and rhythmic detail a central role.
