£11.00
Nat King Cole was an American singer, jazz pianist and actor, born on 17 March 1919 in Montgomery, Alabama, and died on 15 February 1965 in Santa Monica, California. He came to attention as a leading jazz pianist in the late 1930s, and his 1943 composition Straighten Up and Fly Right was his first vocal hit. With his soft baritone voice he recorded much mainstream pop material, and he was one of the first African Americans to host a television variety show, The Nat King Cole Show, which premiered on NBC on 5 November 1956.
The Nat King Cole Christmas Album is a stereo compilation on one CD, released by Music For Pleasure in 1992. The styles are religious, folk and holiday. Gerald Mahlowe is credited with the sleeve notes.
