Dieterich Buxtehude | Buxtehude: Membra Jesu Nostri/Cantatas | 2CD

Dieterich Buxtehude was a Baroque composer whose sacred vocal music brings singers and instrumentalists into closely coordinated settings. His works develop textual and musical ideas through contrasting sections, using melodic lines, ensemble exchanges and continuo accompaniment to shape the programme.

Membra Jesu Nostri / Cantatas brings vocal and instrumental performances of Dieterich Buxtehude’s sacred music together in a two-CD package. The programme develops through solo and ensemble singing, instrumental accompaniment and contrasting cantata texts; the available source verifies whole-work placement rather than a complete movement-by-movement index.
