Rondeau, Jean | Bach Goldberg Variations | 5CD

Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and organist, born on 21 March 1685 in Eisenach, Thuringia. His sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra and solo instruments brought the baroque genre to its maturity, and he enriched the German style with contrapuntal technique and with rhythms and textures from Italy and France. He was Thomascantor at Leipzig from 1723 until his death. His works include the Brandenburg concertos, the keyboard suites and partitas, the Mass in B minor and the St Matthew Passion.

This two CD set is a recording of Bach's Goldberg Variations, with Jean Rondeau on harpsichord, released by Erato on 11 February 2022. It was recorded from 17 to 24 April 2021 at Notre Dame de Bon Secours in Paris. Aline Blondiau produced the recording and Alain Lanceron was executive producer.
