Harnoncourt, Nikolaus | Mozart Reqiuem | 1LP
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a prolific and highly influential composer of classical music, born in Salzburg on 27 January 1756 and died in Vienna on 5 December 1791. He was the son of Leopold Mozart. His output of more than six hundred compositions includes works widely acknowledged as pinnacles of symphonic, chamber, piano, operatic and choral music. Many of his works are part of the standard concert repertoire.
Requiem is a single LP album of Mozart's Requiem, recorded in Vienna at the Musikverein in October and November 1981 and released by Warner Classics in 2021. Nikolaus Harnoncourt conducts the Concentus Musicus Wien and the Konzertvereinigung Wiener Staatsopernchor, with soloists Rachel Yakar, Ortrun Wenkel, Kurt Equiluz and Robert Holl. This remastered edition uses the Eulenberg edition of 1972 and replaces the instrumentation of Franz Xaver Süssmayr, who completed the work after Mozart's death.
