Charles Mingus | The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady | 1LP

Charles Mingus was an American bassist, composer and bandleader whose music brought together blues, gospel, collective improvisation and ambitious composition. His ensembles combined powerful individual voices with arrangements that could shift from intimate passages to dramatic orchestral intensity.

The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady presents Mingus’s extended composition in contrasting movements, using a large ensemble to explore colour, rhythm and dramatic changes of mood.
