Various Artists - Zintl Thomas | Classical Music & Cold War - M | DVD
Classical Music and Cold War - Musicians in the GDR is a documentary about what life was like for classical musicians in the German Democratic Republic after Germany was divided in 1945. It describes how the authorities presented classical music as representative of a culture-loving working people, in direct contrast to pop music, which was described as decadent and westernised. Through interviews with musicians active at the time in the GDR and the Federal Republic of Germany, it compares their lives and shows how the political system influenced artistic life.
