Rondeau, Jean | Bach Imagine | CD
Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and organist, born on 21 March 1685 in Eisenach, Thuringia. His sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra and solo instruments brought the baroque genre to its maturity, and he enriched the German style with contrapuntal technique and with rhythms and textures from Italy and France. He was Thomascantor at Leipzig from 1723 until his death. His works include the Brandenburg concertos, the keyboard suites and partitas, the Mass in B minor and the St Matthew Passion.
Imagine is a single CD album of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, with Jean Rondeau on harpsichord, released by Erato on 15 January 2015. The recording was made at Notre Dame du Bon Secours in Paris from 2 to 6 June 2014. Arrangements are credited to Jean Rondeau, Johannes Brahms, Stéphane Delplace and Wilhelm Friedemann Bach, and Aline Blondiau produced the recording.
