£9.00
The group was formed as The Mascots in Canton, Ohio in 1958 by gospel duo Eddie Levert and Walter Williams, with William Powell, Bobby Massey and Bill Isles also featured. They renamed themselves The O'Jays in tribute to Cleveland DJ Eddie O'Jay, who had played their single often and given them career advice. The group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a performer in 2005.
Love Train: The Best Of The O'Jays is a single-disc CD compilation released on Legacy on 30 June 1994. It collects the group's Philadelphia International recordings from 1972 to 1976, and Leo Sacks produced the compilation.
