£10.00
Modest Mussorgsky was a Russian composer, born in 1839 in Karevo and died in 1881 in Saint Petersburg. He was one of the Russian composers known as The Five, and an innovator of Russian music in the romantic period. He strove to achieve a uniquely Russian musical identity, often in deliberate defiance of the established conventions of Western music.
This is a classical album of works by Modest Mussorgsky and Alexander Borodin, released on the Naxos label as a one disc CD. It was recorded at the Concert Hall of the Slovak Philharmonic in July 1987. The Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra is conducted by Daniel Nazareth, and Maurice Ravel is credited as orchestrator. Günter Appenheimer is credited as producer.
