Gheorghiu Angela/Barcellona Da | Verdi Messa Da Requiem | 1LP

Giuseppe Verdi brought the dramatic force of opera to a broad musical language centred on character, melody and vocal expression. His sacred music also uses contrasts of scale and intensity, connecting solo voices, chorus and orchestra within structures that can feel both deeply personal and monumental.

Verdi's Messa da Requiem is presented by Claudio Abbado and the Berliner Philharmoniker with soloists and chorus. The work's dramatic contrasts place intimate vocal expression alongside large scale orchestral and choral writing. This vinyl programme gives the complete structure room to develop across two records.
