Renaissance | Novella: 3cd Expanded Edition | 3CD
Renaissance was formed in London in 1969 by former vocalist Keith Relf and drummer Jim McCarty, who wanted to blend rock, folk and classical music. The lineup changed rapidly, and by 1973 had stabilised around Annie Haslam, Michael Dunford, John Tout, Jon Camp and Terry Sullivan, a group that made a string of relatively successful albums over the rest of the decade. Their single 25018 from the album 24998 (1978) was one Top 10 hit in the UK.
Novella is a three-disc set by Renaissance, released by Esoteric Recordings on 28 June 2019 in remastered stereo. Annie Haslam sings lead vocals and Michael Dunford plays acoustic guitar, with John Tout on keyboards and Terry Sullivan on drums. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is credited, conducted by Harry Rabinowitz with orchestral arrangements by Richard Hewson, and the set includes previously unreleased tracks.
