Hunter, Robert | Tales Of The Great Rum Runners | CD
Robert Hunter was an American lyricist, singer-songwriter, translator and poet. He wrote lyrics for the Grateful Dead, including "Uncle John's Band", "Dark Star", "Truckin'" and "China Cat Sunflower", and worked as a full-time lyricist for the band while also releasing his own recordings. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with the Grateful Dead in 1994 and is the only non-performer to be inducted as a member of a band.
Tales Of The Great Rum Runners is a two CD set released by Rhino Records in 2024, a deluxe reissue of Robert Hunter's 1974 debut solo album. The set presents a remastered version of the original album alongside 16 previously unreleased recordings, including alternate versions of album tracks and several session outtakes. Credits include Mickey Hart on drums, Keith Godchaux on keyboards and Buddy Cage on pedal steel guitar, and production credits list Barry Melton and Mickey Hart. It is the first release in an archival series celebrating Hunter.
