Sol Invictus | In The Rain | CD

Sol Invictus was founded in 1987 by Tony Wakeford, who had previously played in the punk band Crisis and the post punk act Death In June. Ian Read and then Karl Blake of Lemon Kittens and Shock Headed Peters joined the project early on. The first three albums, Against The Modern World (1988), In The Jaws Of The Serpent (1989) and Lex Talionis (1990), mix acoustic and electronic sounds. In 1991 Ian Read left to form Fire + Ice, and Wakeford took the sound progressively towards dark folk.

In The Rain is a 1 CD reissue issued by Auerbach Tonträger on 28 June 2019. The album was originally released in 1995, and Tony Wakeford wrote the words and music apart from the track 'Hedda Gabbler'. Tony Wakeford also sings and plays guitar. The lineup includes Karl Blake on electric guitar and bass, Nick Hall on drums, David Mellor on piano and keyboards, Sarah Bradshaw on cello, Eric Roger on trumpet, and Céline Marleix-Bardeau and Nathalie Van Keymeulen on violin.
