Sylvaine | Wistful | CD

Sylvaine is the project of Norwegian multi-instrumentalist Kathrine Shepard, who is almost the sole member for studio recordings and is joined by other musicians on stage. Shepard was born in 1991 in San Diego, California, and a few years later her parents moved back to Norway. Her debut album, Silent Chamber, Noisy Heart, was released in 2014 under the name Sylvaine. The music is described as ambient wall-of-sound landscapes with beautiful melodies, lingering guitar riffs and a solid groove.

Wistful is a 2016 CD album by Sylvaine, released by Season Of Mist on 13 May 2016. Sylvaine is credited with the music, lyrics, vocals, guitar, synthesizer, bass and drums. Session musicians include Thibault Guichard on cello, Coralie Louarnika on violin and viola, and Stephen Shepard and Stéphane Paut on drums. Its styles are atmospheric black metal and blackgaze.
