Tangerine Dream is a German electronic band formed in Berlin in 1967, and is described as an exponent of the Berlin School of electronic rock music. Founded by the late Edgar Froese, the group moved from free-rock beginnings in the krautrock scene to a synthesizer and sequencer-based trio that signed to Virgin. Their music earned them a cult following during the mid to late 1970s.

The Sessions III is a reissued double vinyl album by Tangerine Dream, released on 6 November 2020 by Invisible Hands Music. It is part of the Sessions series of improvisations, and its two records are subtitled as sessions at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg on 7 February 2018 and at the Volksbühne in Berlin on 19 November 2017. Ulrich Schnauss, Hoshiko Yamane and Thorsten Quaeschning are credited as composers and performers, with Eastgate Music & Arts as producer.
