The Band | Carter Barron Ampitheater Washington Dc July 17th 1976 | CD
The Band is a Canadian-American roots rock group that gradually formed from 1960 to 1964 as Ronnie Hawkins' backing band, The Hawks. They later worked as Bob Dylan's backing band, with sessions ending in October 1967, and by 1968 were performing officially as The Band. The group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
This is a single CD unofficial release of a live recording by The Band, taken from a concert at the Carter Barron Amphitheater in Washington DC on 17 July 1976. The performance was held on a Saturday night at a 4,000-seat venue and draws on a cross-section of the band's back catalogue. The release was issued by Keyhole in 2014, and the concert took place shortly before the band's final appearance at The Last Waltz later that same year.
