The Jordan is the solo project of Dutch singer and songwriter Caroline van der Leeuw, born on 26 April 1981 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. The name comes from the Jordaan, the neighbourhood where she grew up, and Van der Leeuw describes the sound as trippy pop, lyrical poetry with a raw, feminine edge. Van der Leeuw released her last single as Caro Emerald in 2020, and in August 2022 announced that she had become more estranged from that persona, with three singles already released at the time of that announcement.
Nowhere Near The Sky is the debut album by The Jordan, released on CD by Cooking Vinyl in February 2023 and in the trip hop style. Featured performers include Jeremy Pritchard on bass, Adrian Utley on guitar, Fyfe Dangerfield on keyboards and guitar, and Augusta Harris on cello, with the London Community Gospel Choir providing choir vocals. Lead vocals are by Caroline Van der Leeuw and Koen de Witte.
