The Smiths | Red Light Never Goes Out | CD
The Smiths were an English rock band formed in Manchester in 1982. The group consisted of vocalist Morrissey, guitarist Johnny Marr, bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce. Critics have called them one of the most important bands to emerge from the British independent music scene of the 1980s. Johnny Marr left in July 1987 and the band broke up later that year.
This unofficial one-disc CD by The Smiths is issued on the Unicorn label and was released in 2025. It collects live FM broadcasts, with tracks 1 to 13 recorded at Theater De Meervaart, Amsterdam, on 21 April 1984, and tracks 14 to 16 recorded at Kilburn National Club, Kilburn, England, on 23 October 1986. Songwriting is credited to Johnny Marr and Morrissey, and the running time is 58 minutes.
