Thelonious Monk | The Complete Albums Collection 1957 - 1961 (5cd) | CD

Thelonious Monk was an American jazz pianist and composer, born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, in 1917 and died in Weehawken, New Jersey, in 1982. He is often regarded as one of the founders of bebop, and his compositions and improvisations are full of dissonant harmonies and angular melodic twists. His piano style combines a highly percussive attack with abrupt use of silence and dramatic pauses.

The Complete Albums Collection 1957-61 by Thelonious Monk is a five-disc CD compilation issued by Enlightenment on 11 September 2015. It draws on ten original albums, including Thelonious Monk With John Coltrane, Misterioso and Monk In France. The set is in the cool jazz and post bop styles.
