Tom Waits | A Rider In The Rain | CD
Tom Waits is a songwriter born in Pomona, California, on 7 December 1949, known for his lyrical songwriting and raspy, gravelly voice. His first album, Closing Time, was released in 1973, and his work is rooted in early blues and beat poetry, with influences including Howlin' Wolf and Jack Kerouac. He has also appeared in films by Francis Ford Coppola, the Coen Brothers, Jim Jarmusch, Terry Gilliam and Robert Altman.
A Rider In The Rain: The Black Rider Sessions 1993 is an unofficial release on one CD, issued by Sonic Boom in 2020. It presents a college radio FM broadcast from 1993, with studio versions of many of the final tracks in arrangements that differ completely from the released recordings. It also includes a couple of songs from the play The Black Rider that did not appear on the finished album. The tape was broadcast by a west coast student radio network soon after the album's release, when the mixing engineer was interviewed about the record.
