WAR | World Is A Ghetto, The | 5LP

War is a Latin funk group that started in Southern California in the early 1970s, formed from the remains of the R&B covers group The Creators. Producer Jerry Goldstein discovered them and gave them the name War, and they signed to United Artists before peaking commercially in the mid-1970s with the number 1 hit Low Rider. Later line-up changes and the loss of key members left the group less successful, and it became largely a touring act. Hip-hop artists have heavily sampled their music, introducing it to a new generation.

This is a five LP set from Rhino Records, released on 24 November 2023 as a Record Store Day Black Friday 2023 exclusive. It collects The World Is A Ghetto and includes progressions of the two key songs, 'Cisco Kid' and the title track, along with alternate takes or reimaginings of the remaining tracks. Jerry Goldstein is credited as producer, with Glenn Stone as executive producer.
