Gilberto, Astrud | Look To The Rainbow | 1LP

Astrud Gilberto was a Brazilian singer whose understated delivery became closely associated with bossa nova. Her light tone and restrained phrasing allow melody and rhythm to interact without heavy vocal emphasis, giving both intimate songs and orchestral arrangements a distinctive sense of ease.

Look to the Rainbow pairs Astrud Gilberto's understated singing with orchestral arrangements by Gil Evans. The title song and I Will Wait for You show how her light phrasing interacts with a fuller instrumental palette. This Verve By Request vinyl edition presents the 1966 album in its original programme.
