Fela Kuti | Afrodisiac (COL) | 2LP

Fela Kuti was a Nigerian bandleader, saxophonist and activist whose music helped establish Afrobeat. His extended arrangements brought together jazz improvisation, funk rhythms and West African musical traditions, giving his outspoken vocals a powerful foundation of interlocking percussion, guitars and horns. Afrodisiac brings together four extended Africa 70 performances, including Jeun Ko Ku and Je’nwi Temi. This 50th-anniversary edition spreads the album across green and red marbled vinyl.
