Joe Pass | The Pacific Jazz Collection (4cd) | 4CD

Joe Pass is an American jazz guitarist of Sicilian descent, born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1929 and died in Los Angeles in 1994. He was active as a player from the age of 14, but it was in the 1960s, after a long battle with drug addiction and eventual rehabilitation, that he established himself as one of the great jazz guitarists. His early small group recordings featured fluent single note lines influenced by bop, and in the 1970s he recorded solo performances using fingerstyle rather than a plectrum. He also recorded with Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald.

The Pacific Jazz Collection is a four CD compilation from Enlightenment, released in 2024 in the UK. It gathers eight original Joe Pass albums on which he performed as leader, recorded in the period 1962 to 1966 when he was signed exclusively to The Pacific Jazz label.
