Gomez | Cantaloubesongs Of The Auverg | CD

Jill Gomez is a soprano whose recordings connect operatic expression with the intimacy of song. Her voice and the accompanying musicians shape the relationship between words, melody and instrumental colour, allowing individual pieces to retain their character within a shared recital or orchestral programme.

Songs of the Auvergne presents Canteloube's orchestrated folk song repertoire with singer Jill Gomez and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra under Vernon Handley. Regional melodies gain a colourful instrumental setting, allowing the soprano line and the changing orchestral textures to bring the individual songs into a shared musical world.
