Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers | Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers with Thelonious Monk | 2LP

Art Blakey was an American jazz drummer and bandleader whose Jazz Messengers recordings brought changing groups of musicians into close ensemble dialogue. The music combines melodic writing with rhythmic interaction and individual improvisation, giving the drums a central role in the group’s movement.

Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers with Thelonious Monk brings the drummer's ensemble together with Monk's distinctive piano and compositions. This anniversary edition contains two LPs, pairing the album with alternate takes that reveal different performances of the recorded material.
