The Shins | Oh, Inverted World | CD

The Shins are an American indie rock band led by singer-songwriter James Mercer. Their music combines melodic guitar-pop writing with layered studio arrangements, using distinctive vocal phrasing and subtle changes in texture to connect intimate songs with fuller ensemble performances.

Originally released in 2001, Oh, Inverted World is the band's debut album. Its concise songs bring folk and 1960s pop influences into an independent rock setting, establishing the melodic and atmospheric approach developed across the Shins' subsequent recordings.
